Social Networks

Well this is just great I can see what all young ones are talking about now. What a great way of people meeting new friends through friends or just a group of people interested in the same things. This is great for people in remote areas to stay in touch. I haven't joined a social network yet but Gee Whizz I intend to.

I would like to thank the State Library for offering learning 2.0 to the public libraries and allowing staff to learn 2.0 at their own pace, because if I had to go to a course on this for a day I am afraid I would not retain the information. I have learnt some wonderful ways of using the internet. Some areas were a little trying at times but with help from library staff and the state library I worked it out. I feel very pleased that I have completed learning 2.0.

Online Applications and Tools

WOW I can't believe these applications are free. Being new to the internet I found this quite amazing and was waiting for the catch. With the guideness of the State library showing what applications are free I feel I can look at these application s and tools with out the worry of the "Catch". This is something I would not have tried on my own so look out now.

Mashups

What a lot of fun with this section was. To many great ways to display photos maps or anything you want I found it hard to decide what one to choose to add to my blog loved Hockneyizer so I went with it for my blog. I will find a use for this at work and using it at home. I have really enjoyed this part learning 2.0.

PODCASTING

WOW the things I never knew even existed this is wonderful for rural and remote areas of this wide country. How easy this makes it for libraries to view lectures and library meetings could be recorded to be viewed by staff members. Just Super

Answer Board and Social Searching

I think this is a great service that I imagine would be widely used by alot of remote people with access to the Internet. For students trying to find the right answer for a question seeing that a librarian or library professional has posted an answer they know that the reference work has been done.

Delicious

What alot of fun I can see Libarything working for many book clubs and people just interested in what others think of a particular book or author.

YOUTUBE AND GOOGLE VIDEO

Well what alot of fun never even looked at these webs before starting learning 2.0. Well it has opened up a whole new world to me. I heard about youtube during the federal election but didn't bother to look simply because if the pollies were on there I was not interested enough politics on TV and in the newspaper.

I have linked a video to my blog wasn't to hard (with the helpful hints from Ellen). I have really enjoyed looking at youtube and google video. This is wonderful that we can share information through video. I loved the Mosman Library great to listen to and watch.

Wiki's

Well really enjoyed looking at the different wiki's never realised how many there are. I can see that wiki's in libraries would be very handy way of keeping in touch and organising events. Adding a calendar for noting meeting and coming events within the different branches would be good. I thought this weeks learning about wiki's was very interesting.

Learning RSS

I found the RSS feeds quite interesting. I can see how it would be a great benefit to libraries it's like having a one stop shop for online info on news and coming events. I tried the extra activity and got the powerhouse picture of the day on my blog. I wanted the ABC feed but it would not except the feed on my blog page not to worry might be just the gremlins.

Learning New Things

I do believe it is very hard to teach an old dog new tricks but I am looking forward to learning all this new tech through
" learning 2.0". I know very little about the Internet and terms used, so I am hoping completing "2.0 learning" will help me understand terms I have never heard of like "RSS" and "mashup".
